The standard working week for PTB staff is 39 hours for staff on collective agreements and 41 hours for civil servants. Upon application, the working week may be reduced to 40 hours for civil servants who receive child benefit for a child under the age of 12 or who meet certain other criteria.
In addition, there is the option of individual working time arrangements, provided that operational requirements allow.
The maximum permitted working hours (excluding breaks):
- 12 hours and 15 minutes per day for civil servants and
- 10 hours per day for staff on collective agreements.
Working hours are generally organised on a flexitime basis; core working hours begin and end:
- Monday to Thursday 09:00 to 15:00
- Friday 09:00 to 12:00
The break is 30 minutes if working hours exceed 6 hours, and a further 15 minutes if working hours exceed 9 hours.
The hours worked are recorded electronically in a personal working time account, with staff registering via a transponder at the terminals at the building entrances when arriving and leaving. Alternatively, online recording of working hours is possible when using flexible working arrangements, teleworking or when working at PTB’s partner organisations. The recorded working hours can be viewed on the intranet under WebService / Time Management or from your KLR time sheet in SAP. Questions regarding the working time account, as well as holiday and sick days, will be answered by our colleagues in the time recording department in Berlin and Braunschweig.
