Flexible working

All PTB staff whose roles allow it are given the opportunity to make use of flexible working arrangements, subject to their respective work requirements and the agreements within their functional unit or team.

In this context, work can be carried out outside the PTB at another suitable home office. The prerequisite is that, firstly, the tasks are suitable for this arrangement and, secondly, that you are personally suited to working flexibly.

You should therefore have sufficient IT skills and already be well familiarised with your new tasks. You must also have a home office that is suitable for flexible working. Full-time staff covered by collective agreements and civil servants can make use of flexible working for up to 800 hours per year. For part-time staff, the allowance is reduced depending on the agreed weekly working hours. You can view the exact amount of your available home office allowance online in your time account. If a working day is split between on-site work and flexible working, the time allocated to each must not be less than one hour to allow for proper task completion. As a rule, you are required to work at the PTB for at least half of your regular working hours on at least one day per week.

The working hours for flexible working have been extended compared to on-site work at the PTB. You have the option to work flexibly between 5:00 am and 10:00 pm without entitlement to time-related bonuses.

Unused hours from the flexible working quota will not be carried over to the next calendar year.
